NSW September Combined Meeting

This month's combined NSW Online event will feature Renee Gorman from the Institute of Public Affairs.

More about Renee:

Renee Gorman is the National Manager of the IPA’s Generation Liberty Program. Renee began working for the IPA as a campus coordinator at the University of Sydney, and now works closely with student groups and other young people to discuss free market ideas and encourage a university environment characterised by ideological tolerance and academic freedom. Renee is enthusiastic about the work she does on campus and has a bright outlook on the future as she meets and engages with more and more young people interested in the ideas of liberty, free markets and personal responsibility.

During her time as a campus coordinator, Renee hosted many successful events including ‘The Dangers of Socialism’ which over 150 students attended and ‘The Case for Coal’, an event which was well attended and helped bring to light the outrageous security fees being forced on conservative and libertarian student clubs on campus. In her one and a half years as a campus coordinator Renee had over 600 students attend her events.

Renee is now a frequent speaker at liberty conferences and last year won the Australian Libertarian Society ‘Libertarian Activist of the Year’ award, which was accompanied by a grant to travel to a conference in the US.

Before joining the IPA Renee worked for both state and federal parliamentarians as well as the New South Wales Department of Premier and Cabinet as a media officer and graphic designer. Prior to working in politics, Renee worked as an illustrator and designer in the private sector. She is currently completing a Masters in Media Practice, focusing on political media and PR strategy.
