Daniel grew up in country Victoria on a farm, where he was involved in several volunteer organisations: Surf Lifesaving, The Country Fire Authority, and coaching junior sporting teams.
In 2001 Daniel joined the Australian military where he served for 11 years, including six years in the Royal Australian Navy as a Medic during the Iraq War. After this he served in the Royal Australian Air Force in Aviation Fire Rescue for five years, and then an additional ten years as a Reservist. Daniel is currently involved in assisting and volunteering for the veteran community. Since leaving the military he has worked in the mining industry as both Fire Rescue and a Rescue Paramedic.
