Membership Cards

LDP membership cards are now being mailed to members. As they are being done in batches we expect it will be a couple of weeks before all cards are posted.

NSW Members

IMPORTANT !!

It is a requirement of the NSW government that all members of a new political party fill out a Form 20. NSW is the only state that requires this.

With your membership card (see above) you will also receive a From 20. Please fill this out and return it in the envelope provided. The address you need to enter is that for which you are enrolled.

This form is needed for us to obtain NSW registration.

Also included is a form detailing your details as originally provided by you. If these have changed please update and return.

Unintended Consequences

Austrian economics teaches that we must consider all the ramifications of an action.

We have seen that the government's guarantee of bank deposits led to the freezing of the accounts of other institutions because people were withdrawing their cash to deposit in a guaranteed bank account.

Now another. The accelerated depreciation of new vehicles has led to a boom in new vehicle sales, certainly, but at the expense of used car sales. One salesman told me that he had not sold a car in 8 weeks! He is one of that yard's top salesmen.

Morals

I recently read Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternack. It is set in the time of the Russian Revolution. The following passage jumped out at me.

"The great majority of us are required to live a life of constant, systematic duplicity. Your health is bound to be effected if, day by day, you say the opposite of what you feel, if you grovel before what you dislike and rejoice at what brings you nothing but misfortune. Your nervious system isn't a fiction, it's part of your physical body, and your soul exists in space and is inside you, like teeth in your head. You can't keep violating it with impunity"

So if you hear or see something that you disagree with, speak out for your health's sake. Sure, you're likely to be criticised, but if you have the facts you will prevail.

Beware of governments. They like to keep us in check!

New Website

A new website is currently being developed. As with everything new there are a lot of differing opinions as to how it should look.

We will advise as soon as it it is ready for a wider audience. A different newsletter format will also be employed.

Another Government Grab?

Ross Currie of our Victorian branch has alerted me to a proposal being floated for the government to hand over our super in exchange for a top-up on the pension.  See here:   http://www.news.com.au/business/money/story/0,28323,25922738-5013954,00.html

It is hoped people will see through the idea. Despite the rate of  return, you can be sure the government will win because the CPI does not measure the real inflation rate and therefore the real value of your capital will gradually be eroded.

Another thought. Is the government trying to prevent us passing on an inheritance to our children? If you hand over your super your heirs won't see any of it
