The Liberty and Democracy Party occupied a display booth at this years Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (SSAA) SHOT Show held at Cecil Park on the 20th and 21st of May 2006.

The SHOT Show is an annual event organised by the SSAA as a showcase for the shooting, hunting and outdoor trades. Sporting shooting clubs, hunting cubs, gun manufacturers and other related suppliers were all in attendance. Around 5000 people attended this years show which included facilities to allow novice shooters the opportunity to try the sport for the first time.

Of great concern to all shooters is the onerous restriction and regulation of firearm ownership. These are having a real effect on the number of young people taking up sporting shooting as well as being an intrusive and unnecessary burden on law biding firearm owners.

The Liberty and Democracy Party policy on firearm ownership and the party's libertarian philosophy were well received by those attending the show, with 312 new members signing up over the two day event.
